THE Jacob Brown Fundraiser

Jacob Brown was in a horrible motorcycle accident on October 23 when a women pulled out of a corner store without seeing him or stopping to go into the middle lane. He was going the speed limit driving straight and had no time to stop or avoid the car. He got sent into emergency surgery for multiple injuries and major bleeding. First concern was his ruptured spleen which had to be removed. He needed a blood transfusion due to the lost of so much blood. All his organs were bruised completely around which caused a lot of issues internally. His left leg fibula was broken where his bike petal went completely into it. They had to remove this immediately during surgery and clean the wound where his jeans and debris had got stuck into the wound with the petal. He had also shattered his left legs femur and broke some of his left ribs. Doctors decided to fly him to university hospital of San Antonio to have surgery on his left thumb that got mangled in the accident. Once he got to the new hospital and stable the concluded that they would move on with the surgery however that he would have to have his thumb amputated and they would put pins to fix his broken pointer finger. Once he was in surgery for that they went in a set his leg with rods and pins in the areas that were broken and fractured. He had to have a chest tub in for a bit for his left lung but later had major complications with that and started gasping for air. He had to have it removed as soon as possible due to his lung almost collapsing. After a few days they realized he was having some issues with his stomach and intestines so they put a nasogastric tube in him to try and pump his stomach fully to see if this would help but after two days of stomach pumping and multiple containers full of the fluid (with no eating or drinking at all) he started having issues with that as well. They finally did some more cat scans and X-rays on his stomach and found two major blockages that were concerning so after a week of hell they sent him back into surgery reopening the giant cut on his stomach to do exploratory surgery. They found a rare case of his intestines being pinch due to it trying to heal from the trauma caused and a small tear that they were able to fix. Now he’s out of surgery and hopefully officially onto a road to recovery. He’s been in none stop pain physically and mentally but he’s still fighting through it all to get better and get back home after a lot of physical therapy.
