My name is Mary Blau-Brandt and I’m fundraising for my son, Jacob Brandt. Jacob has had severe Crohn’s disease since he was 9 years old. He’s had three previous intestinal surgeries-one 5 years ago where a cancerous tumor was discovered and removed. Jacob is now in the hospital with a bowel obstruction that is showing up as another possible cancerous tumor. He has a long road ahead of him due to the fact that so much of his small intestines were already removed -which is complicating the surgical and possible cancer treatment plan he will soon endure. He has two small children - Lucy (7 yrs) and Levi (6 months) along with his fiancée Maggie and her two boys to support - so his ability to work will be greatly affected because of this latest serious health situation. The medical bills will also be very large due to the surgery and possible cancer treatment. We pray his outcome after his surgery on Friday will look positive for a full recovery!
Thank you and God Bless you for your giving heart!! ️❤️
After surgery update: Three cm of small intestines were removed and pathology will determine in about a week if the mass that was removed was a tumor or a large Crohns stricture. The good news at this point is that not too much small intestine had to be removed - but we will see how this will affect his recovery in the next few days. Keep the prayers coming! Thank you and God Bless!!
Update as of 3/7/23
I visited Jacob this evening and was happy to be able to have dinner with him - as he’s back to eating solids again! His GI and Oncology doctors also stopped in when I was there to check on Jake and state that they are keeping close watch on his pathology report. We pray the results are benign of course, but they discussed both scenarios of a benign vs cancer diagnosis and what his future treatment may look like - as at a minimum he will have to be followed closely for his Crohn’s disease.
Thank you all so much for your prayers and continued support! God bless! ️
Mary Brandt
