Help Jacob Alberga fight Hodgkins Lymphoma
Donation protected
My family appreciates you taking the time to read our GoFundMe as we ask for support during an incredibly difficult time for my nephew, Jacob Alberga, who was recently diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma at the age of 24.
Jacob spends most of his days as a full-time student and skiing with the Paul Smiths Nordic team. He loves skiing, paddling, fishing, and generally all things outdoors. He has a lot of energy, as many of you know, and it’s been tough to watch him slow down. He has recently stopped working as he attempts to stay strong in school for as long as possible.
As his Aunt Joanie, I've had the pleasure of watching him “race” through a lot of life’s challenges. He has helped myself and my family on many occasions as he is a notoriously hard worker. He is giving, loving, and funny and rarely ever says no.
I find it does not matter how old, how young, how sick, or how not sick someone is—being told you have cancer will rock your world. And that is exactly what happened after Jacob and the rest of our family learned on January 22nd that he was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma.
One of the hardest things to do is ask for help in this life. I am asking for as much support as people can or are willing to give to help ease some of the unexpected expenses accruing. Once Jacob gets his port-o-cath, he will begin his trips across the lake on the ferry to the University of Vermont Medical Center in order to receive treatment. Jacob will require chemotherapy treatment every other week for six months. He will be evaluated at that time to see what comes next.
Any funds donated will go towards medical bills, travel, and his car payments. I cannot thank you enough for taking the time to read about Jacob's journey ahead.
On behalf of myself, his mom Billie Joe Zerrahn, his dad Kris Alberga and his brother Patrick Alberga we thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
