Jackson is our beautiful boy who loves to go out and about to the park, the shops and the beach.
As much as we love to get Jackson out in the community, his sensory and receptive language challenges make it difficult for this to occur. Jackson can become very excited and impulsive in busy environments and often finds it difficult to walk alongside us holding our hand. Unless both parents are present it can be difficult to keep Jackson safe in public spaces and the chances of him running off into traffic or getting lost are dangerously high.
Dogs for Kids with Disabilities train beautiful animals to become friends, companions and protectors for children like Jackson who have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder. These amazing animals are trained to be a child’s best friend, great for building social interaction and confidence, can be taught to provide deep pressure and comfort, to interrupt meltdowns on command, prevent their child from wandering and so much more.
It costs up to $30,000 to train one puppy to become an Assistance Dog for a child and we intend to raise $25,000 towards an Assistance Dog over the next 12 months.
An assistance dog for Jackson will help him to integrate into the community safely and will allow us to take him out more often without the constent need of a pram to keep him safe. Jacksons younger brother stopped using the pram over 6 months ago and we would love for Jackson to have this opportunity too.
All funds raised go directly towards training Jacksons's dog via Dogs for Kids with Disabilities and a tax deductable reciept can be requested from DKD (less the 8% that goes covers Go Fund Me fees).
Thank you for your genorosity.
