"Who's a good boy" - Jackson's Trauma Surgery

Our family members, Corey and Izzy beloved young German Shepherd, Jackson, was unfortunately hit and run by a vehicle and he is in need of significant surgery and a lengthy recovery.

Jackson is going to celebrate his 2nd birthday in October, and has brought so much happiness to Corey and Izzy’s lives in that short time they’ve had with him! We all lovingly called him our little ‘land shark’ as a little puppy, because of his sharp-toothed playful ways. He would grow inches by the day it seemed, and continues to be such a sweet, loving dog!

Jackson was struck by a truck driving outside of their home on Aug 30th. He was rushed to the emergency vet where he was given pain medication and xrays to determine the extent of the injuries, as he was in a state of shock. Now, Jackson luckily is in stable condition, we are grateful after extensive testing that there were no major internal injuries. But he will be in extensive surgery for open and closed breaks in both of his front legs/paws, as well as days in the hospital for observation and pain management. With everyone's help and support, he is expected to fully recover with proper treatment. Recovery will be months long, filled with medications, lots of rest, and possibly future treatment/surgery to ligaments in the legs.

The surgery(s) is going to be upwards of $14,000 and the hospital stay and medications will be about $1800+ per day. He will need follow up xrays, possible treatments, and pain medications as well during his recovery.

The surgeon and all of Jackson’s family are hopeful for him to once again be the happy, energetic dog he is at heart.
