Hi, I’m Marissa, Jackson’s life partner.
What started as a routine eye appointment turned into a whirlwind of emergency proceedings leading to brain surgery for Jackson. Doctors found a massive tumor on the left side of his brain. They compare it to the size of a grapefruit. Due to its large size, the tumor is pushed against areas that control speech, reading, field of vision, motor function, language, understanding, among other things.
(This is a scan of Jackson’s brain from the top. The light gray mass on the right is the tumor.)
Jackson’s tumor removal surgery is Thursday, January 27. It may take up to two surgeries to remove the entire mass. The doctors are optimistic that they can remove the tumor with only the risk of temporary disabilities. The neuro team is carefully mapping out the best approach to get Jackson on the road to full recovery!
This journey will be long, and we appreciate everyone’s love and emotional support thus far! For this next chapter, we are seeking immediate financial support for transportation, lodging, and medical expenses. We’re not sure how long rehabilitation will keep Jackson off of work, so additional support will be used for cost of living, recovery care, and other unforeseen expenses.
I’m so gratified to call Jackson the love of my life. How his spirit has remained so positive through all of this news is astounding. His humor, hope, and compassion is contagious!
