Our sweet nephew, Jackson, is fighting a battle no child should ever have to fight-the fight against cancer.
Jackson is 2 years old and loves firetrucks, books, and playing outside. But instead of being able to do these things he is fighting for his life. Jackson was diagnosed with a Wilms Tumor on his left kidney on May 16th. Sadly, further test showed that the cancer had spread to both lungs. On Friday, May 17th, he underwent emergency surgery to remove his kidney. He will receive chemotherapy and radiation to treat the cancerous spots on his lungs.
Jackson is a fighter as this cancer diagnosis isn’t the only battle he has had in his short life. At birth, he was diagnosed with Hirschsprung’s Disease, which affects the large intestine (colon) and causes problems with passing stool. He had multiple surgeries to repair his colon before he was 6 months old. Despite these challenges, Jackson has lived each day to its fullest.
We have started this Go Fund Me account to ease the burden on his parents, Kathryn and Patrick Snipes. Over the next days, weeks, and months ahead Jackson will have countless doctor’s appointments and hospital stays. With the day to day costs of every day living so high right now, the additional commutes to Chapel Hill for treatment, and the surmounting medical bills, this money will help relieve the financial stress and allow Jackson’s parents to focus to on his treatment and battle against cancer.
If you are able to donate any amount, thank you. Words can’t express our appreciation. Please keep Jackson and his family in your prayers.
