I am a brain cancer Warrior’s mom. Jackson is that warrior. I am starting this GoFundMe in hopes that I can receive a little assistance with Jackson’s medical care to make his day to day life a little easier. This is extremely hard for me to do because I don’t like to ask for help from anyone.
Jackson is a bright, sweet, kind hearted 12 year old boy that has been fighting a big battle since he was 2. Jackson was diagnosed with a rare, cancerous, incurable brain tumor on 2/9/2012, a month before his 3rd birthday. He was given the prognosis of not making it past 5 years old. They did a 70% resection of his tumor that next day and within 2 months, the full 70% grew back. He started chemotherapy at 3 years old. He has gone through 8 different protocols of chemo with no success in shrinking the tumor. At 5 years old, Jackson had a massive brain hemorrhage that we were told he wouldn’t recover from. He was in a coma and spent almost 3 months in the hospital’s icu, oncology and rehab floors. The hemorrhage has left Jackson with a number of dangerous health issues and disabilities. Because of this, We have moved and changed hospitals twice for Jackson to receive the best care possible.
We are now facing a lot of financial burdens due to Jackson’s care. There are a lot of things Jackson needs just to make his day to day life easier and a lot of medications and supplements that insurance doesn’t fully cover. I am unable to work due to Jackson’s appointments and constant care. I need to be available at Any given time, even while Jackson is at school.
Jackson’s medical needs and care have affected not only us but my parents as well. My parents have compromised and sacrificed so much to be available and to be constant support for us with Jackson’s care. Jackson is not an only child, he’s 1 of 6 in total between my husband and myself. Our children all mean the world to us and Jackson’s condition and his fight with brain cancer have affected us all. But through it all, with all of the limitations, challenges and appointments, Jackson still smiles.
I have been told repeatedly by many people to start a GoFundMe for Jackson but I just couldn’t bring myself to do it. It has taken so much to do this and I would love to be able to make Jackson’s life a little more enjoyable and easier each day, I would greatly appreciate any help that anyone is willing to give. Thank you all for always being in Jackson’s corner ❤️
