Hi everyone,
We are the family of Jordan, Reanna, Gracie, Harper, and Jackson Lawson. We appreciate you taking the time to read their story.
Jackson’s Story
In January 2024, Reanna took Jackson in for some dental pain he was experiencing. There was no reason to believe anything was out of the ordinary. Jackson had been healthy, happy, and active aside from the pain in his jaw. However, this led to the need for further analysis as the dentist discovered a mass. On February 6th, at MUSC, Jackson underwent surgery to have a couple molars removed and a biopsy of the mass done. At the time, the doctors believed it looked benign. The biopsy took quite some time to come back but in the meantime, Jackson appeared to be feeling much better once those molars were removed.
February 23rd, 2024 is a day that will forever be burned into Reanna and Jordan’s memories. Their beautiful baby boy has cancer.
Rhabdomyosarcoma. A word they had never heard of before is now the name of the battle their child must face. This is a rare soft tissue cancer that is aggressive and must be treated aggressively. This cancer comes in three risk categories: low, intermediate and high risk. Due to the unfavorable location, Jackson’s cancer is considered intermediate risk. It is currently inoperable, though there is hope to reduce the size of the tumor to be able to operate in the future.
For now, the treatment plan for Jackson is to receive 40 weeks of chemotherapy with radiation. Once a week he will travel the 1.5 hours with his parents to MUSC where he will receive chemotherapy. Weeks five and ten he will receive five days straight of chemotherapy followed in week 13 with radiation for five days straight. This will be followed with a year of once a month “maintenance” chemo.
He has already undergone countless tests, scans, and surgery to have his port for chemo placed. He has gone through a spinal tap which came back clear and we are waiting on his bone marrow results. It has been determined that cancer is only in the jaw as of this time.
Jackson is only four years old. He loves to four wheel, play in the dirt, play with his sisters and friends, and in typical boy fashion, he loves to do everything possible to give his parents gray hair. He plays soccer and baseball. But now, instead of all that, he will go to chemotherapy. He will lose his hair. He will not be allowed to attend school or group functions. Just like that, his whole world has been turned upside down. He has cancer.
Our goal is for them to not go through this alone. To have them wrapped in love and support that they can feel through everything they will go through. They will have family there to help with the girls, pets, and house. However, Reanna will not be able to work while Jackson is going through treatment and Jordan will be missing days of work to be present with his boy.
Your donations will help to pay for the expenses with Jackson’s trips for treatment, household needs, unplanned expenses, and anything else that will help to ease the burden of this difficult journey. All donations will go directly to the Lawson Family. We appreciate any amount that you can contribute and if you cannot contribute at this time, simply sharing their story can help. Thank you for taking the time to read, donate, and share!
Let’s rally together for Jackson.
With love and appreciation,
