Jackson, Adrie & Family
October 23, 2018 Jackson Hanson was in a terrible accident, he was crushed under an old exterior AC condenser. Jackson was rushed to the ER and was then in the ICU.
After an initial diagnosis of a broken pelvis, and ruptured bladder, we all thought things were going to be fine. Although, after a second look the doctor stated there is a very large risk of paralyzation due to the some details around specific vertebrae in Jackson's back.
Adrie, Jackson, Adara and Ransom have already been through a rough few months filled with hospital stays and unknowns as Ransom was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes, just a few short months ago. We do not know to what extent help will be needed, and anything will help.
More details will be forthcoming, with updates, but there are going to be large costs involved in the entire ordeal, from hospital stays, surgeries as well as a long and hard recovery after all is said and done.
UPDATE: he is out of his first surgery, it went well. They did the bladder repair with no issues as well as put a pin in his femur with traction to pull down the bone. He has a hematoma from the fractures that is bleeding, it has been packed and has a wound vac and they are watching it closely. He will have surgery sometime today to hopefully repair the pelvis and fuse it to the spine as it is completely disconnected right now. They say it’s a lot of surgery and depending how he does they may not do it all today. Then ideally they wait 24 hours from when the pelvis is fixed to close the wound on his stomach and make sure the bleeding has stopped. He is currently intubated and in and out. He’s not loving life at the moment, and is confused but said he is not scared. we have a long way still to go so please keep praying we feel it! -Adrie 10/24/2018
2:15 PM They just took him back for surgery #2. All the prayers please, this one is a very long and complicated one!
UPDATE: He got out of surgery. They fixed the back of his pelvis and fused his pelvis to his spine. They still have to fix the front of the pelvis and the wound on his stomach where he is bleeding internally. So two more surgeries at least but things are looking good. -Adrie 10/25/2018
10:05 AM Jackson’s blood numbers are not great. They have given him several units of blood and are not seeing the improvement they are looking for. If his numbers don’t go up they will go in and do emergency surgery to try and stop the bleeding. I’m asking again.. please pray for him and the doctor’s staff. He has a small tear in the sac that holds his intensities together and it is preventing the hematoma from being contained. Please pray that the tear will close up. I am so scared.
11:30 AM: The last transfusion worked well, so less concern about the blood at the moment.
Update 10/26/28 : Ventilator is out! Surgery for the bleeding went well, his stomach is closed up. The ortho team is still evaluating the front of his pelvis to see if he needs more surgery but he is awake, not sedated. Thank you everyone so much for the prayers, donations, the amount of love and support is overwhelming. We cannot thank you enough. I stayed home last night to get some sleep but I am headed up there now to see my man. I will keep the updates coming on his pelvis. - Adrie
