Hi, my name is Samm and this is my perfect boy Jack. He’s a 5 year old dachshund who is the most loving dog imaginable (with just a little bit of spice). 2024 has been a rough year for us. He got diagnosed with IVDD (intervertebral disc disease) in January which means the discs in his back have started to age prematurely and the material within the discs has hardened rather than being the jelly material that they should be. Due to this, he can herniate a disc very easily which can cause multiple issues including immense pain, paralysis, wobbly walking, etc. He has had to have 2 hemilaminectomy surgeries thus far (an invasive surgery where a neurologist works to decompress the disc that has been compressed or herniated). Additionally he has been in rehab and accupuncture to help in his healing. He went from shaking and yelping in pain, to being paralyzed, to walking again, and now after a wonderful recovery he is sadly encountering another disc issue. These surgeries and rehab costs have been unbelievably expensive and we are waiting to hear what needs to be done about this new issue. Jack has been a rock for me in times where I’ve needed a companion and seeing him go through this is absolutely heartbreaking. Anything you can help to contribute to these costs would mean the absolute world to me. Thank you so much.
