Jack’s Fight for Another Day

Story

Our beloved uncle, Jack, is in a Southern California hospital fighting for another day with his two young sons, Jayden, and Ethan. He was hospitalized with Covid-19 a few weeks ago and has stage 4 cancer. He wants nothing more than to hug his sons again. The prognosis is not looking good, but Uncle Jack is nothing but a fighter. A non-smoker, he's been fighting lung cancer for more than three years now. Even when it spread to his bones, we hardly heard him complain about the excruciating pain he experienced every single day. In between chemo treatments, he got up everyday to take care of Jayden, 9, and Ethan, 4, so his wife could work.Uncle Jack loved every day that he got to spend with his sons, despite his pain.Jack has the biggest heart. We, his nieces and nephews, have so many stories of how Jack gave us rides to school, took us on his vacations, and sprinkled advice about life and family in all our interactions with him. He was our fun-loving, silly, goof-ball uncle who organized holiday games to entertain his nieces and nephews. For many years, Jack's side gig was photographing weddings--even though he was a single guy. He loved to ballroom dance, and we were all tickled that our goofy uncle had the moves. But apparently he did--he and Aunt Danh met on a ballroom dance floor. We are heartbroken that he's so sick. Uncle Jack would be the last person who would ask anything from his friends, neighbors or community. Some of you have asked how you can help him. We hope to raise funds to cover medical costs and to support his sons, Jayden and Ethan. Uncle Jack and his family are also devoted churchgoers and believe in the healing power of prayer. Please pray for Jack and his family.  Thank you for your generosity--it would mean the world to this beloved father, uncle and friend.
