On Tuesday, May 11th, Jack fell roughly 8-9ft while sleeping. Unfortunately I did not hear the fall and when I woke up that morning, Jack wasn't doing his usual face rubs or waiting for breakfast. I noticed his blanket wasn't on the half wall and when I looked, it was at the bottom of the stairs. After unsuccessful attempts to lure him out with treats and catnip, I found him in the back corner under the couch. Lifting the couch off of him and picking him up, things seemed to be okay. Until I set him down on the couch and he fell over. Instantly noticing at that point that he has lost function in his front left leg.
I immediately called his vet and they said to get him in right away. Even with no open appointments that day. I am so incredibly thankful for them. Animals 'R' Special in New Albany, you are amazing!
After dropping him off, they called a few hours later and we decided to take x-rays. These showed that he had significant injury and told me that I need to get him to MedVet in Worthington as soon as possible. 
After dozens of phone calls with MedVet staff from their parking lot while they assess his injury and find a course of action, it was decided that he would need a fusion of his joints and a plate and screws. 
The surgery was successful and it is currently Saturday May 15th and Jack is home and recovering. He has 8+ weeks of recovery and weekly appointments to check his progress. Luckily he isn't trying to be super mobile which helps the healing process.
This is where I need your help. 2020 was brutal for everyone and like many, I have been actively fighting to get back on my feet. Things are slowly starting to turn the right direction but I am not in a financial position to suddenly acquire almost $6,000 in medical debt. Which is exactly what happened. Not including the cost of weekly checkups and other expenses to make sure he is comfortable and has what he needs while healing.
I have had this little guy by my side for 9 years and he's one of the biggest sources of joy that I have. I want to do whatever it takes to help him but with things being so challenging the past year or so, I simply need help as well. I wasn't going to create this GoFundMe because of pride but that is dumb. I have been fortunate enough to have so many people reach out and help and offer where and what they can. Giving him his meds and things while I take on every freelance gig I can to get this debt down and keep bills paid.
It is hard for me to write this and I don't like putting my personal life out there. But it is something that has to happen. I need your help. I love my little dude so much and I want more than anything for him and I to get back to normal.
