Jack's Battle-Support Erin Peters & Jason McCarthy
Donation protected
We hope this page reaches all friends and family of my sister Erin Peters and my brother-in-law Jason McCarthy that may not have heard about their son Jack's recent diagnosis with Cancer.
On December 14, 2023, their cherished four-year-old son Jack was diagnosed with a rare and very large Wilms Tumor on his kidney. Only five days later Jack was scheduled for major surgery and the tumor, and the kidney were both removed. The grueling 9-hour surgery was a success however there were complications with the tumor when it had ruptured before it was completely removed.
Pathology results would identify that the tumor had also compromised blood cells in Jacks abdomen and ureters. As a result of this, Jack will have to undergo Radiation treatment in addition to Chemotherapy. Each are suspected to start between Christmas and New Years. Jack is scheduled to have 5 rounds of radiation and multiple Chemotherapy treatments over the next 6 months.
Receiving this kind of news is crippling for any family and receiving it about your four-year-old son just before Christmas has left Erin and Jason devastated. They have not left Jack’s side since his diagnosis.
For those of you who have had the privilege of meeting Jack, you know how precious he is under all those beautiful blonde curls and for those of you who have never met him, you can trust that he is an incredibly smart, funny, adventurous, compassionate and an all-around amazing little boy.
He has a cheese face that cannot be duplicated and can light up any room. This road is going to be a long and slow journey for Jack and all we want is for him is to continue being the little boy who thrives on adventures with his Mom and Dad, shooting hoops, riding his bicycle, playing with friends, and eating all the snacks. If you know Jack, that boy loves his snacks!
During Jacks recovery and treatments, he will be unable to go to school and require around the clock care. Both Erin and Jason are going to be off during this time and caring for Jack on a limited income – we are reaching out for your support in hopes you can help them during this very difficult time.
All funds raised will help with any related medical expenses, meals, parking during Jacks hospitalization and parking/travel to and from the IWK once Jack is allowed to go home. Your donation will hopefully ease some of the financial burdens Erin and Jason will face during Jacks battle with Cancer.
Please know that there is no donation too small – if you cannot donate financially, we understand.
We ask that you send your hopes, prayers and well wishes in lieu of a monetary donation.
Alternatively, you can reach out to the Peters/McCarthy families to see if there are other ways you can help.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts and appreciate your support through Jack’s Battle!
Thank you,
Andrew Peters
