  • Hi my name is Greg Smith, I am starting this fundraiser for my Wife of 12 years, Jacqueline Eder. About 6 weeks ago we noticed a lump on her neck, and scheduled an appointment to get it looked. A few days later, we woke up to a huge abscess on her neck. The abscess is shown in the title picture. We went to the appointment to get her lump biopsied and get her abscess looked at. The ENT, Dr Sheppard used an endoscope to look at her throat and imme immediately saw a 2cm tumor on her epiglottis which he identified as cancer. She also has a 3.3 cm tumor on her neck which is also cancerous. She went to the hospital to get the abscess taken care of and while in the hospital, the results of her biopsy came in, and showed that the tumors were indeed cancerous. She was diagnosed with stage 4A squamous cell carcinoma in her throat and neck, which was complicated because of the enormous abscess. Her cancer has metastasized to one lymph node and her neck. She was then transferred to Christiana Hospital and placed under the care of the oncology team at Helen Graham center. She received 5 days of chemotherapy and was on IV antibiotics for several days. We have a 12 year old daughter, who is being very helpful. Jacki was working as a manager at a local laundromat and now is no longer able to work. So we are now dependent solely on my income, which is a major strain on us. While all this is going on, our roof was damaged in a thunderstorm on July 16th. A new roof costs $12,850. Any help with living expenses or our roof would be greatly appreciated. We are going through the most difficult thing we've ever had to go through. She's gonna be undergoing more chemotherapy and radiation treatment. The Oncologists aren't sure yet whether she's gonna need surgery to remove the tumors, they're waiting to see how the chemotherapy goes. . Thank you to all of our family and friends who have been there with their thoughts and prayers. Here's the most recent picture of her abscess.
