Hello everyone! I would like to start by saying thank you to everyone who has been so supportive of Jaclyn's fight against cancer. We are so appreciative of all the love and support that she received. Please know that anything helps: whether it is prayers, good vibes, sharing this post or any donation you can make.
On December 5th, 2016, my sister, Jaclyn, felt sick and was sent to the emergency room. There they did a scan that showed a tumor on her adrenal gland (located on her kidney). After blood work and lots of waiting, the doctor told her that the results basically ruled out cancer. We all high fived and waited for the next doctor's appointment with the surgeon who would then remove the tumor. Before scheduling the surgery, the doctor ordered an MRI and PET scan. The results of these tests came back that the tumor was not benign but a very rare cancer called Epithelioid Sarcoma.
It had started in her adrenal gland, and unfortunately by the time it was diagnosed, it had spread to the regional lymph nodes.
The doctors at Northwestern in Chicago decided that she would need chemotherapy in order to shrink the tumor (which she started February 20th, 2017). She will begin her second round March 13th. After her second round, they will rescan and determine future treatment which may consist of surgery and/or radiation.
These funds will be used for treatment costs not covered by insurance.
