The Wall in memory of Jackie Vernon for St Leonards Hospice
Hi,
My name is Lester and i worked with Jackie at Asda. I have also had the pleasure of working with Jackie's husband Neil and daughter Clare. On Saturday 14th June I will attempt to complete The Wall. The Wall is a run that begins in Carlisle and ends in Gateshead covering about 70 miles. There is a 26hr time limit for this course to be completed. I aim to run as much of the course as possible and walk the rest.
The aim of this event is to celebrate Jackie's life and raise money for St Leonards Hospice. Jackie spent some time at St Leonards Hospice and after speaking to Neil Vernon it became clear they were the charity to raise money for. My father in law Fred Lloyd also spent time at St Leonards Hospice so the charity is very close to my families hearts.
Most of you would have had the privilege of knowing Jackie Vernon a lot better than me but through our brief
exchanges i quickly realised what a friendly, funny and incredibly helpful lady Jackie was. Jackie often appeared
from nowhere to help me find the items I was supposed to be picking which was a real bonus for me.
I can honestly say that I have never heard a bad word said about Jackie Vernon. That is because everybody liked Jackie. Young people, old people,
new starters to people who have been at Asda for decades. Jackie Vernon was timeless.
It will be an honour to represent Jackie and St Leonards Hospice at this event.
Any donations would be hugely appreciated if you can. Also please get involved by leaving any messages or stories involving Jackie that you would like to share
Many Thanks
