Jackie Piazza: Our Lupus Warrior

Hi friends, family, acquaintances, & strangers. This GoFundMe is being born today for three reasons:

1: To try and make a slight impact to help Jackie & Rick out financially.

2: To tell Jackie's story.

3: To help spread awareness about Lupus.

Our Jackie was diagnosed with Lupus 6 years ago. Every day since, she has shown up to life with a level of courage only written about in superhero comic books.

Lupus is a chronic (long-term) disease that can cause inflammation and pain in any part of your body. It’s an autoimmune disease, which means that your immune system — the body system that usually fights infections — attacks healthy tissue instead.

Jackie's Lupus impacts her kidneys, joints, muscles, eyes, and lungs and causes extreme fatigue, chronic pain, and inflammation while remaining mostly "invisible" to the outside world.

Because of her day-to-day pain, Jackie has been unable to work a full-time job. This past weekend, she was admitted to the ER with severe abdominal pain and has since been transferred to the ICU, where they continue to monitor her.

This disease weighs heavy, and this opportunity to help exists today to alleviate even the slightest bit of stress from Jackie & Rick's everyday plate.
