Hi, for those of you who don't know me, my name is Jackie Miller, and I’m a full-time nursing assistant from southeastern Pennsylvania. I have been diagnosed with multiple large uterine fibroids, which are usually noncancerous tumors. However, they won't know for sure until they remove them during surgery and test them. They're located in the uterus and can cause heavy bleeding, pain, and infertility. I am due to get my surgery on August 29th 2025.
I was told that I'm at risk of blood clots due to the pressure they're putting on some important veins in my abdominal area. My doctors have told me to have a myomectomy, which is a surgery to remove the fibroids and preserve my uterus. There are some risks involved and they won't truly know what's going on until they do the surgery.
I will need at least six weeks of recovery time before I can return to the physical demands of my work. During this time, I will be on short-term disability which only covers 50% of my income. I'm unsure how much I will have to pay for medical bills because I don't know how many nights I will need to spend in the hospital. I also don't know if I'll need to pay for a visiting nurse or home health aide to assist me because I don't have all the support I feel I may need.
This fundraiser is very important to me because I just want to be able to heal my body and not have the added stress of worrying about finances during that time. I also want to keep the option open to have children someday, and this surgery will improve my chances of conceiving in a healthy way because my doctor told me he doesn't recommend me getting pregnant with these large fibroids.
I am asking for your help to make this surgery possible and to ease my financial burden during this challenging time. Any amount you can donate will be greatly appreciated and will make a difference in my life. Please also share this fundraiser with your network and help me spread the word. Thank you for your kindness and generosity.
