Hello. My name is Jackie. Let me say that I HATE asking anyone for money, but at age 65, I find myself in a bit of a bind.

The house (see photo) in Kansas City that I've been renting for 10 years is being sold and the rental market has skyrocketed, as you may well know. Even the smallest apartments are far above what I can afford. Buying is the only way I will be able to afford payments or keep my big dog. Herein lies the reason I am appealing to you.

I qualify for a modest mortgage loan and have found a couple of decent houses in my range. However, I have very little for a down payment, having never expected to be buying a house at this time in life.

So, that is my ask. I have a $2,000 of my own saved and am asking for help with the rest, about $8,000 more. As some of you may know, even a small home in today's market tops the 100k mark and 10% is a very small down. But it is enough.
