Jackie Carl Smith Memorial

Dear family and friends,

On July 31st, we were shocked to find our beloved Jackie Carl Smith had suddenly passed away at his home in Long Island. Jack had faced some serious health problems, but his will and strength kept him with us for as long as he could hold on.  We cherished our time together.  Jack was much loved as a father whose talent, compassion, intelligence and lifelong curiosity animated our lives.  He was an artist, musician, a passionate storyteller and a true New Yorker through and through.  We were inspired by his creativity, the way he wrangled with big ideas, his love for his family.  He will be deeply missed.  

Above all, Jack treasured his community of close friends and colleagues.  They were his heart and soul.  We were so moved to hear from a younger colleague that Jack's generous guidance at work left an indelible mark.  He'd be so proud to hear that.

As we come to terms with Jack’s passing, we are faced with the difficult task of arranging his final farewell. We want to give him the dignified, heartfelt send-off he deserves.  Unfortunately, the financial burden of the funeral and memorial are overwhelming for our family during this already challenging time.  We will also have a long road ahead to settle his legal affairs.  Any donation will help us take the necessary steps to send Jack to his next journey.
