Jack's Songwriting Summer @ Berklee

My name is Jack Gaffney. I am a 17-year-old singer-songwriter, composer and pianist. My immediate goal is to attend the Berklee College of Music Summer Performance Program this July. My long term goal is to change the world through music.
Berklee awarded me a $1,500 merit scholarship for the five-week program, but this only covers a small portion of the cost. The summer program is for college credit, and it will also boost my chances of achieving my next goal: studying music at one of the best colleges or conservatories.
I’ve wheeled my painted piano onto the Pearl Street Mall in Boulder over the last several summers and played for tips. As a busker, I have witnessed the power that music possesses: A person hurriedly walks by, lost in thought, but then a melody catches their ear. They stop and gravitate towards my music. Maybe they smile, maybe they reflect, but their life is enriched — sometimes for a moment, sometimes for hours.
I would like to push my performance and songwriting abilities to the next level, and I believe that the Berklee College of Music Summer Performance Program is a huge step in the right direction.
My family has contributed what they can, and playing for tips only goes so far. Thank you — so much — for any contribution you can make!
