Jack the Fighter

This sweet little boy needs our prayers and his parents need our support. Jack in the son of my best friend Nicole Kratzer. Nicole and her husband Zak are foster parents who adopted Jack and his twin bother Zack in 2015 after fostering them since they were 10 months old. The twins are now 6 years old and have two beautiful little sisters. Earlier this week Jack had a headache for a few days and wasn't acting quite like himself. When he woke up in the middle of the night Wednesday in excruciating pain and vomiting, Nicole and Zak knew they had to get him to CHOA quickly. A CT scan showed a mass on his brain and little Jack Jack  went in for surgery to relieve the pressure from his brain. An MRI later showed that what originally looked like a mass in the initial scan was in fact a stroke that had taken place. This precious boy has been put through the ringer with test. He lost some function in his right arm leading doctors to believe he suffered yet another stroke. They found a blood clot in the vein in the back of his neck that could affect involuntary actions like breathing. They are still searching for answers and asking for prayers. In the meantime Zak is traveling back and forth from CHOA to home and Nicole is staying at the hospital with Jack. He will be in the ICU for at least another week and then have a lengthy hospital stay, followed by a month in rehabilitation center, and will be out of school for some time. This means lots of medical bills piling up and lots of missed work for mom and dad. No donation is too small and it would mean the world to Nicole and Zak. They are amazing followers of Christ and believe strongly in the power of prayer. Let's step up and help ease the stress so they can focus on their sweet boy. No parents should be worried about bills and money when their baby is in the fight of his life.
