Jack Otamura's Eagle Project

Money will be used for Jack Otamura's Eagle Project. The project aims to landscape the outdoor area adjacent to the Pediatrics Department at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center in Sylmar, CA. This space is currently used by nurses and doctors as a break area or as a quiet meeting space for patients and families.

Improvements to both the aesthetic and functional aspects of the space will be achieved by planting Bougainvillea along the fence line to serve as a natural privacy screen from the adjacent parking lot. In addition to the Bougainvillea, a selection of drought and heat-tolerant plants will be placed in the open space between the fence and the building. These plants were chosen for their ability to thrive in the local climate with minimal maintenance.

To support the long-term health of the landscaping, a drip irrigation system connected to a timer will be installed, ensuring the plants are watered at regular intervals while reducing the need for manual upkeep. These efforts will result in the creation of a clean, low-maintenance, and welcoming outdoor area.
