On November 6th, I left for training in California at around 9 am. Everything seemed fine with Jack—he was happy, eating, and acting normal. However, by 12 pm that day, he suddenly refused to get up and stayed in bed.
Around 3 pm, I received a call informing me that Jack still wouldn't budge. He had lost his appetite and showed no interest in his favorite treats like turkey or peanut butter. Worried sick, I immediately flew back home that night. However, when I arrived, Jack didn't have the energy to greet me. He managed to eat and drink a little, so I decided to monitor him until morning.
But by morning, Jack still hadn't moved and had completely lost his desire to eat or drink. It took him a grueling 14 hours to summon the strength to get up and pee, which was an enormous struggle for him. Realizing something was seriously wrong, I rushed him to the emergency room.
After hours of tests, including bloodwork, x-rays, samples, and ultrasounds, the vet delivered devastating news. Jack had internal bleeding caused by a large mass in his liver, suspected to be liver cancer. Though the diagnosis still awaits confirmation, immediate surgery is the only chance to save his life. The vet presented me with the difficult choice: proceed with the surgery or opt for end-of-life care.
Given Jack's current health condition, the surgery offered hope for a long life ahead, so I decided to consult with a specialist and move forward with the surgery. He’s thankfully in stable condition now checked in with his surgeon, and awaiting the operation. However, the cost of the surgery and the emergency vet expenses were estimated to be around $12,000—a significant financial burden to his pawrents.
Thank you for sharing Jack's journey and for considering donations to support his medical expenses. Your support is contributing to give Jack a healthy and happy life again.
