Jack lost everything to a devastating fire!

Greeting South Etobicoke Community from Friends of William Punnett Co-op.

On Saturday March 22nd, disaster hit our community in the form of a devastating ground floor fire at the William Punnett Housing Co-op. 77 year old Jack MacDonald, lovingly known to many as "Grandpa", a long time member of the co-op lost everything, including clothes, furniture, family photos and memorabilia, and perhaps most devastatingly, his beloved cat-Smokey.

Jack and his dog, also named Jack, are known through out the Lake Shore area and can often be heard to be called "Double Jack". They are valuable members of our community, helping with maintenance through out the co-op and putting a smile on everyones face as they walk through our community. Jack, who lost his wife and best friend in 2021, recently retired after a lifetime of working in the van lines/ moving industry and has long been a positive and giving member of our community, who now needs our support.

Although Jack (the human) does have minimal basic insurance, it does not begin to cover all of the costs he is facing through no fault of his own, including replacing all of his clothes (all that is left is what he was wearing at the time of the fire), paying for temporary accommodations, basic cooking supplies, furniture, linens, towels, food, and medical necessities for both Jacks.

Any donation, no matter how small, is greatly appreciated and will be

used to help Jack pay for the items listed above as he navigates this very traumatic experience. Please help if you can.

Donations of clothing are also being accepted by Essie Patcheson, his long time neighbour, on his behalf. Jack prefers to wear work pants or jeans and wears a size 38W x 28L. Shirts, hoodies and jackets are also greatly appreciated in size L or XL as well as shoes and slippers in a mens size 9.
