Help us save our beloved Jack

2/20 UPDATE! Thank you!! We reached our original goal! But I had to increase it & I still could use your help. Jack has progressive FELV, FIC & has been cured of FIP. Due to his Progressive Felv status he will be living in his room all by himself. (We were hopeful he could come out & be with our other cats but with FELV that isn’t the case right now) With your help I’d really like to be able to make sure I always have the medication on hand that has been keeping his weekly vomiting episodes at bay. (And hopefully extra just in case) 1 box is $18 for 4 pills which gives me 16 days of medication. Get him some Proviable which will also help his upset tummy & body in general. I’d like to stock up on his special diet that’s to help his Fic. Always have hydracare on hand because when he has his episodes sometimes it’s all he will eat & it makes him feel better. It also helps his Fic. 1 case of 12 is $15.00. I’d love to get him some vitamins, immune boosting herbs & supplements. Some new interactive & entertaining toys & just things in general to enrich his life. He will also have to go to the vet every 6 months for check ups. Jack deserves the best life ever & that’s what I want to give to him. I love him beyond words. Please continue to help Jack! Felv is the Feline Leukemia Virus. As of right now there is no cure for felv. Only management of issues that can occur. His progressive status means he has the virus active in his system making him more contagious to other cats & he can show signs of his disease. Fic is Feline Idiopathic Cystitis. Fic is a disease that has no known cause. It can be caused by many factors from stress, how the cats bladder is formed, how the cat reacts to stess & more. It comes down to figuring out how to manage it. Which is what we are currently trying to do for Jack. Fip is Feline infectious peritonitis. It is a fatal viral disease. I was lucky enough to have been able to get Jack treatment.

UPDATE! We are done with treatment for fip & are in observation. We just need to do Jack’s final bloodwork for FIP. He will not be deemed “cured” without it. He also needs a quantitive PCR test to check his FELV status. He was diagnosed with feline idiopathic cystitis on Friday 12/23/22.

FELV is the Feline leukemia virus & is a retrovirus that infects cats.

We aren’t sure if his current issues are FELV related. On a weekly basis he gets 2 different sized pupils, then his bottom eyelid turns into his eye like entropion. Sometimes he throws up. His eye issues can resolve in a few hours to over a day. He also gets fluffed from down his back to his tail & stays fluffed for hours to a day. This is why the vet is recommending the qpcr. He has seen 2 different vets for this issue.

Hi my name is Alyssa. I rescued Jack from outside on April 8th 2022. I have been feeding Jack for over 2 years. He showed up when he was just a kitten. I never got to pet him until April 7th because he was so standoffish of people. We’ve always had a bond since the first day we met. Thinking he was having heat exhaustion I brought him inside & got him into the cool bathroom with fresh food & water. I took him to the vet that following Monday to get tested for fiv/felv & have his breathing checked. Instead they had me leave & rush him to the ER vet. The ER vet decided that because I was honest saying he was feral & with his present symptoms he had fip. They put him in isolation & never addressed his breathing (with oxygen) or gave him fluids. Instead I was told multiple times to euthanize him because he had fip. I didn’t want to do that so they sent him home with antibiotics. I was able to get him into another vet 97mi away. While there we learned that he can’t jump. This vet did blood work & he tested positive for FELV, had positive corona titters, fluid around his stomach but not enough for a sample, a major infection & air around his esophagus. Within a week of that appointment Jacks eyes started having problems. (He was treated with eye drops)his left eye & his walking have gotten worse. It’s just been a lot. I want to get Jack into a different vet that specializes in cats only & also I desperately need to be able to get him more treatment. I love him so much. Can we please show Jack that where you come from or if you were feral it doesn’t mean you don’t deserve a life saving treatment & to live in a safe loving environment.
