Hello and welcome to the page of the "Jack Hamlin" association.

Our association was created in September 2024 in agreement with the family of American veteran Jack Hamlin and according to the wishes of Mrs. Julie Hamlin, his daughter, with whom we decided to create this association composed of loyal friends of Jack. The association is closed (without members) and is composed of the following people: Mr. Laurent Rodange, Mr. Pascal “Jari” Frenay, Mr. Pascal Collette, and Mrs. Julie Hamlin, member and honorary president. Supported by the US Navy Coast Guard and many American friends, we are honored to present our project:

The construction of a memorial for the Coast Guards of the “Rescue Flotilla One” of which Mr. Jack Hamlin was a part. The “Rescue Flotilla One” participated in the D-Day landing on June 6, 1944, during the “Neptune/Overlord” operations.

Our monument will be inaugurated on the coming June 6th, in the town of Colleville Sur Mer at the site of the "Big Red One" Museum, thanks to the kindness and friendship of Mr. Pierre-Louis Gosselin, the museum owner. After six months of official requests and countless letters written to local authorities, all remaining unanswered, our association finally found this land to be able to erect the memorial in honor of the US Coast Guards and Mr. Jack Hamlin.

The memorial, weighing one ton and measuring approximately 2.50 meters in length and 1.50 meters in height, will be manufactured by the Durocasse marble company. Touched by our approach to pay tribute to these seamen, the company wished to make a most honorable gesture by only charging us for materials and offering us delivery.

But now we need all of you to help us finance this memorial. With your help, we aim to raise the sum of €13000.

This amount will include the manufacture and installation of the monument as well as covering the plane tickets for Mrs. Julie Hamlin to come and stay in Normandy, and of course, the brunch that will be organized at the end of the ceremony for all donors and military personnel present.

We are counting on all of you who knew, loved, or simply crossed paths with Jack Hamlin. We hope your generosity will allow our association to raise these funds, and for that, we thank you in advance.

Your generous support will serve to honor all the men of the “Rescue Flotilla One” for all the acts of extreme bravery carried out by those who sacrificed themselves for our freedom during the June 1944 landing.

Bonjour et bienvenue sur la page de l’association « Jack Hamlin ».

Notre association à été créé en Septembre 2024 en accord avec la famille du vétéran Américain Jack Hamlin et selon le souhait de Madame Julie Hamlin sa fille avec qui nous avons décidé de créer cette association composée de fidèles amis de Jack. Association fermée (sans membres) elle se compose des personnes suivantes, Monsieur Laurent Rodange, Monsieur Pascal « Jari » Frenay, Monsieur Pascal Collette ainsi que Madame Julie Hamlin membre et présidente d’honneur. Soutenue par les Coast Guard de l’US Navy et de nombreux amis Américains, nous avons l’honneur de vous présenter notre projet:

La construction d’un mémorial pour les gardes côtes de la « Rescue Flotilla One » dont faisait partie Monsieur Jack Hamlin. La « Rescue Flotilla One » à participé au débarquement du 6 juin 1944 au cours des opérations « Neptune/Overlord ».

Notre monument sera inauguré le 6 juin prochain, sur la commune de Colleville Sur Mer sur le lieu du Musée « Big Red One » cela grâce à la gentillesse et l’amitié de Monsieur Pierre-Louis Gosselin propriétaire du musée. Après six mois de demandes officielles, d’innombrables lettres écrites aux autorités locales, toutes restées sans réponse, notre association a pu enfin trouver ce terrain afin de pouvoir ériger le mémorial à l’honneur des Gardes Côtes US et de Monsieur Jack Hamlin.

Le mémorial pesant une tonne, et mesurant environ 2,50 m de long sur 1,50m de hauteur sera fabriqué par l’entreprise de marbrerie Durocasse. Touchée par notre démarche de rendre hommage à ces marins, l’entreprise a souhaité faire un geste des plus honorables en ne nous facturant que les matériaux et en nous offrant la livraison.

Mais maintenant nous avons besoin de vous tous pour nous aider à financer ce mémorial. Nous souhaitons avec votre aide récolter la somme de 13000 €.

Cette somme comprendra la fabrication et l’installation du monument ainsi que la prise en charge des billets d’avions pour la venue de Madame Julie Hamlin et de pouvoir veillez à son séjour en Normandie et bien entendu le brunch qui sera organisé à l’issue de la cérémonie pour tous les donateurs et militaires présents.
