My Older Brother, Jack, was diagnosed with a form of Melanoma Cancer in early June. This was a complete SHOCK to him, our Family and Friends. Jack has always been Strong and Healthy. But as most of us know, Cancer will prey on anyone it can...
So let me explain how he came to find out he had Cancer... Jack has always worked his butt off (and if you know Jack, I know you agree) and he has always taken such great pride in all of his work. He is in the Construction Field. He is a Plumber, Electrician and also works with Concrete, which is probably his favorite of them all. He came to notice that a lump under his armpit on his dominant side was growing larger and larger. Jack knew something wasn't right. He continued to work as long as he could, so he could continue to save up, because he knew he would most likely have to have it cared for and he didn't know how long he would be out of work. The mass continued to grow at a rapid pace and finally he agreed to have it looked at.
After testing and scans, it was determined that it was Cancer. At this time Jack was unable to work. Jack was referred to Moffitt Cancer Center in Tampa, because of the size of the mass/tumor (the size of a softball).
On Tuesday, August 4, he had his first Immunotherapy Treatment. The hopes of receiving these rounds of therapy is to shrink the tumor enough to make it operable to remove. Treatments can be up to six months long depending on how fast the therapy works.
Jack lives by himself and provides for himself and his, soon to be, 4 year old son, Maxx. Man is he ready to start pitching a baseball again to his Little Man. And their most favorite thing to do together, GO FISHING!!
The reason I started a GoFundMe for Jack is to help with his living expenses since he is unable to work, such as: Rent, Utilities, and Travel Expenses to receive treaments in Tampa. If you are able and willing to graciously donate any monetary amount, it would be greatly appreciated.
More Importantly, I ask that you please keep my Brother in your prayers, for healing and a positive outcome. He has a Positive Spirit about getting better and I hope he continues to have the determination to beat this!
