Meet Tytan: a sweet, 11-year-old boy who loves playing basketball and pranking his sister. Tytan is fun-loving and brings joy wherever he goes. He is a leader among his friends and is outgoing and confident.
This past June, Tytan began experiencing pain in his upper left leg. His parents thought it was just growing pains, but soon after, they noticed a bump that had increased in size overnight. They took him to the doctor, tests were run, and Tytan was diagnosed with cic-dux rearranged sarcoma. This is a very rare form of cancer and the doctors said they were lucky to discover it so early. Because this type of cancer is so rare, there is little scientific information nor results from clinical studies or treatments.
Tytan is currently in the middle of 15 rounds of chemotherapy over the course of 31 weeks. He has to travel to and from Portland for his therapy. Tytan will then face an additional 5 to 7 weeks of radiation in Seattle. He will need a drug called Neulasta after each round of chemo, and each dose costs $2,000 and is not covered by insurance. Tytan and his family are taking one day at a time, trying to stay positive, and hoping for the best.
Tytan has been adopted as our "Sparrow," a medically fragile child, by Summit High School this year. Summit students and community will have the opportunity to work hard to raise money for Tytan’s ongoing treatment, medications, and travel through sponsored community service.
We, Jack and Lily, were elected to pair up as a team in the annual Thunder Pageant: a highly successful fundraising program for our school's Sparrow. We'd love to reach - in fact, surpass - our $5,000 goal, and we'd appreciate YOUR help to get us there. Any donation of any size helps!! Can you join us in this fight for Tytan?
Thank you,
Lily Carson and Jack Stevens
