Jace's Journey with Fibular Hemimelia
Jace was born January 11th 2023, he was born about 3 weeks premature at 6lbs 10oz. He was also born with a rare congenital defect known as Fibular Hemimelia in this left leg, which is the absence of his Fibular bone which acts as the supportive structural bone to the Tibia. As a result he would need extensive corrections both in the left leg as well as a complete reconstruction of the left ankle. As his father I researched every possible hospital here in Ohio, but all the results for success resulted in amputation of the leg. Finally we found an out of state institute that specializes in this exact complication and the results are not only mind-blowing but my son would keep his leg! This is the Paley Institute in West Palm Beach, Florida.
Jace had his surgery July 15 2024, and unfortunately it is extremely expensive, his mother and I have medical insurance however it is the out of network expenses that are piling up. We ask that you please help us raise money and if not that you please share this to create awareness about Fibular Hemimelia and the awesome Institution that is the Paley Institute.
