Jace’s Heart Triathlon

Hi, my name is Megan Hunt and I would like to share the story of my dear friends’ upcoming journey. I felt led to create this to be a support to their family at this time.

My friends Jordie & Kimberly Gillis are expecting their second child September 7th, 2021. Presently, they live in Cape Breton, NS with Jordie’s son and their almost 3 year old daughter. Around 20 weeks, their unborn child was diagnosed with a serious heart condition that would require the family to temporarily relocate to either Halifax or Toronto for their baby to have proper care when he is born. Recently, they were told the heart condition has become more complex so their baby will require more extensive surgery, within the first week of life, in Toronto. They have been told to expect to be in Toronto for a minimum of two months, provided there are no complications and the baby’s health stabilizes. Jordie will need to take a leave of absence from work, and they will need to find accommodations close to the hospital, once their baby arrives. As you can imagine, relocating on such short notice involves a variety of expenses and financial adjustments.

Many have been asking for a way to support the Gillis family during this time, so this page has been created as an avenue to support them by helping to relieve some of the financial pressures they are facing.
