Jace fights on

Jace was a 5 1/2 yr old boy. Who just started 1st grade. He was excited to be in school. Jace hated virtual learning. One day he fell while playing. Jace complained of leg pain. We thought it was normal to be sore after a fall. Til he became persistent about his leg hurting. So we took him to the ER. They did Xrays. The results came back, they found a cyst. His doctor said it looked cancerous. A biopsy was preformed and we had to wait for final results. Late sept 2021 8 days before Jace turned 6 results were in. He was diagnosed with OSTEOSARCOMA. (Rare bone cancer) because of Jaces age. We began the process right away. And just like that Jace started chemo, after his port placement. Then the uphill battle began. We decided with Jace from the beginning that limb sparing was our best option. He loved to dance, run and play ball with his brothers. This was the only real chance to give him a normal life. Week after week in and out the hospital. Now our second home, this was hard. 2022 came and Jace surgery came up. The tumor was removed and the bone was replaced. It was a success. But things we couldnt predict happened. So Jace began to see the OR multiple times. Sometimes all in the same week. To try to correct the issues at hand. Long stays at the hospital become our normal. But for some reason, Jace remained happy. With no sign of defeat. He is a fighter. A handsome brave loving boy. Who continues to fight everyday. Its because of his spirit the family is able to stay strong. Knowing Jace is smiling makes this journey easier to go through.
