Jace and his family ❤️

Donation protected
Hi, My name is Neilana Golz and I am the auntie of the most precious little boy, Jace. Jace was born on November 5th 2023, and after a few hours of cuddles with his parents, Leanna and Jordan, it was clear Jace was having a difficult time breathing. His oxygen dropped too low and needed to be transported to the NICU. However, the hospital he was delivered at thought it would be best to be transported to a level IV NICU due to his needs (which is 3 hours away from where Jordan and Leanna live).

The first days of his life were very scary, he was placed on a ventilator to help his breathing (most likely due to meconium aspiration syndrome) and he was having seizures so he was placed on anti-seizure medications. He had MRIs, EEGs, X-rays, Ultrasounds, you name it - everything was being done to figure out what was going on with Jace.

I wish I could write that we know exactly what is going on with Jace and what the cause of his seizures are, but we really have no idea. The doctors have ruled out a lot of potential causes that they initially thought may be causing the seizures (i.e. hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, hyperglycemia, meningitis, etc).
Jace was on the uphill trend after coming off of the ventilator and one of the anti-seizure medications and was doing really well (drinking some from the bottle, alert and calm, giving his parents good snuggles), but last week (November 15th and 16th) he had really tough days where the seizures came back full force, requiring the doctors to give him many additional medications just to stop the seizures, which has caused him to be very sleepy since.

So many people have asked our family how they can help and what they can do for us (which we are eternally grateful for), we would ask that you all continue praying for Jace and our family. And if you feel so called to help out in an additional way, we created this go fund me.

Jace has now been in the NICU for 2 weeks and according to the doctors it sounds like he will be here for continued weeks (they unfortunately do not see a discharge date in the near future). This was very unexpected and will require many additional funds to pay for medical bills, medications, travel/gas, food, and bills to be paid for while being away from work. Since Leanna and Jordan live 3 hours away from the NICU it has been difficult to find a balance between working and being at the hospital.

My heart breaks for little Jace, Leanna, and Jordan to go through such a difficult and trying time. We trust that the Lord has GREAT plans for Jace and we continue to pray for Jace, Leanna and Jordan, the INCREDIBLE doctors, nurses, therapists, and everybody caring for Jace.

Lastly, THANK YOU x1000 to everybody who has reached out, sent prayers, sent venmoes/gift cards/etc already. We can not express how YOU all have gotten us through the past couple of weeks. We will be posting updates to this page frequently so you all can be updated on what is going on with our little man Jace! Thank you all so much again for your prayers, love, kindness, and generosity. ❤️
