Help my dad kick cancers ass

Donation protected
Boozhoo! My name is Samantha. I am trying to raise money for my father Kenneth Forcia. He is only 65 and full of life. He is a husband, father to four and grandpa to six. All he wants to do is spend time with his family. He has never been one to ask for help. He is a proud member of the Bad River band of Ojibwe and is in need of help.
In 2019 my mother had a life changing stroke. She was no longer able to work or drive. She relied on my dad to set up her medications and take her to all her appointments. He changed his work schedule to make sure she was taken care of. In 2023 my dad started to have severe back pain. He was doing physical therapy and was waiting to get an mri to see what was going on. In October of 2023 my moms health took a turn for the worst. She had another stroke and ended up and needing surgery. He stopped working and became her full time care giver.
In early January he was finally able to get his mri. We were not prepared for the results. He was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and that has spread to his bones. The pet scan shows his spine is in bad shape. The oncologist that took on his case is amazing. He told my dad we are going to hit this very hard, and that they did. He started on two different kinds of chemo and immunotherapy. The chemo was very hard on him and he started to get sick everyday and he ended up losing over 80 lbs. After one of his chemo treatments he took a fall. A ct scan showed that there were 3 compound fractures in his spine and with his bone cancer there was nothing they could do to fix it. Even with everything going on he continued to fight. On April 13, 2024 he took a turn. We had trouble waking him up and he was rushed to the hospital. Once there they did a CT scan and found he had double pneumonia. But there was good news!!!! The cancer in his lungs had shrunk a lot. The treatments were working. He went home with antibiotics.
On April 15th I got a call that he was being rushed to the hospital again. Once there they found that the oral antibiotics were not working. He was admitted and put on IV antibiotics. They started to check other things and found his magnesium was critically low and he was severely anemic. They got him some blood transfusions and IV magnesium. A few days later he started to feel better but the magnesium and hemoglobin kept dropping so he had to have more transfusions. During this his oncologist stopped his treatments and said they would start up once hes stronger. He spent about 2 weeks in the hospital and was sent to rehab to get stronger so he could start chemo again.
He went to rehab and was kicking ass. They got him up and walking again and even had him ride a stationary bike. After 2 weeks in rehab he was ready to go home. But the day we picked him up we knew something was wrong. He couldn't get up or walk. We met with the oncologist right after he was discharged and he needed a wheel chair to get inside. They were very concerned but said it could be from all his meds he was on. We got him home and within 20 min we had to call the ambulance again. This time he was very confused and didn't know what was going on. Once he was back at the hospital it was determined he had pneumonia again. He was admitted and again started on IV antibiotics. But something was still off. About a week into this hospital stay they did a CT of his spine and ended up transporting him to a hospital with neurosurgeons. The fractures in his spine along with the cancer were pressing on his spinal cord. Within hours they started him on radiation. By day 3 there was a big change. Hes no longer in extreme pain. Hes still having trouble getting up and walking. He just finished day 10 of radiation and was transferred to another rehab facility. He needs to get stronger so we can get him home and start his chemo.
We are in need of help to pay for durable medical equipment and either making the house accessible for him or finding a one level place to live. We also need help paying for a stair lift, getting a wheel chair ramp installed. We are in need to help for the caregivers that are needed to help him and for the deductibles for medications and the ever growing medical bills. More than anything we need to have him home. He wants to spend time with his grandchildren and see them grow up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Miigwech.
