Help Manny Walk Again
Donation protected
It was difficult and humbling for me to put up this funding page, so thank you for visiting. Just a couple months ago, just before Christmas (2019), I was hit from behind by an airborne snowboarder while skiing with my teenage daughter. Thankfully, she is Ok but I got taken out hard, landing on my head, never seeing it coming. He did not obey the mountain rules that the person in front has the right-of-way and that you must allow enough room to safely avoid and stop without hitting someone. As a result, my leg was broken in 2 places (both clean breaks). I was rushed by ambulance to a shock-trama hospital. 3.5 hours of emergency surgery, 21+ surgical staples and 4 days in the hospital later, full recovery still won’t be for at least a year. A second surgery may still be necessary, extending my recovery time, requiring more physical therapy and incurring additional costs. There’s also continuing and constant pain, and resulting nerve damage to both my leg and an arm / hand that prevents even drinking a glass of water, which also requires treatment. I’ll have to learn to walk normally again especially with the nerve damage. Insurance is already limiting the physical therapy and other coverage I need, which will be ongoing for many, many more months to come, likely longer. This is a very difficult ask for me, requesting help with medical and living expenses since I cannot work until fully mobile again. Any donation, no matter how small will help and be so gratefully appreciated. Thank you for listening and in advance for any generosity you can offer. It will be so appreciated, more that you will know. Thank you. Very Humbly, Manny
