Hello everyone! My name is Lauren and I’m the daughter of Dan Fitzpatrick! My father has a long road to recovery after being hospitalized last June 2023 for a back surgery that he sustained after being in a car accident about 5 years ago. My father has had this procedure done a few other times with his neurosurgeon and this past June this was going to be his last. What my father didn’t see coming was many hardships along his 8 month journey in the hospital. My father thought like any of his precious back surgeries he would be out in a few days and carrying on his normal daily activities. He thought wrong. After being released from the hospital he was unable to walk and had to be rushed back to the hospital. There they found a blood clot in his leg and admitted him for further work up and testing. From there going forward would be a nightmare. In those 8 months being hospitalized he sustained the blood clot, sepsis, a pressure sore that needed to be brought to the OR 3 times to be cleaned and washed out which now requires wound vac and wound nurses, multiple infections requiring multiple antibiotics, COVID, retiring from work early as he could not go back in his condition and months long rehab stay as my father could not walk and needed to learn how to walk again and be able to dress himself and care for himself. My father finally got released from the hospital feb 12th. His road to recovery is still a long one. He now requires physical therapy and occupation therapy in his home as he is learning how to walk again. He is also requiring 24/7 home care which his insurance does not cover and he has to pay out of pocket. If anyone knows anything about home care it’s very expensive and looking to run him 100-200,000 +. My father is not asking for a handout and not asking for much but he needs help to help cover this costly expense as insurance doesn’t pay. Any little bit helps.
