UPDATE:
Friday, January 16 of 2026 Jacob had a grand mal seizure. It didn’t stop so he was taken to a hospital near Deland FL and intubated. He lives with his in-laws and wife near there. They have been such a blessing because Jacob’s memory is down to one minute spurts now. They were quick to help and saved his life. The hospital thought they found a brain bleed so he was transferred to ORMC for more critical care. There they found no brain bleed, but wanted to do a brain MRI to see any damages. He was extubated Sunday. He was talking and had no motor difficulty which is wonderful but after some other issues arose, labs have shown him to be in end stage Kidney Failure. He has since had his MRI and several other tests. He is, as always, in good spirits with his loving wife at his side, but easily scared since he doesn’t know where he is or what’s happening. He’s no longer working and needs someone with him around the clock (hence the moving in with the in-laws). This is all going to add up for hospital bills. I hate to ask, but any amount can help. It’s a terrible society we live in for having to worry more about medical bills more so than our loved ones. But, here we are. Thank you, for all your thoughts and prayers over this last decade of love we’ve poured into our brother Jacob. He is a genuine soul.
UPDATE:
Jacob has decided to have the Stimulator put in for his seizures. The doctor said his brain will no longer make memories until we can get his seizures under control. They are petite seizures meaning that most people with no medical knowledge or experience with seizures would notice. But they are happening constantly. He has trouble following stories or conversation so the issue is now that the physician’s office has called several times to schedule for a pre op and he’s refused it due to his memory loss.
we are working on getting all of the doctors to call his wife Heather now.
At this time, Jacob has a larger tumor growing quickly. It’s not the same as his previous epidermoid cysts. At this time, He doesn’t want to have surgeries to excise this new tumor.
The hope is that this stimulator will give his brain a rest long enough to make some memories and give him the autonomy to make more informed decisions moving forward. We want to advocate for Jacob as much as possible and if his decision is to allow these tumors to grow, we want him to have as much quality as he possibly can.
We have scheduled to see a surgeon to perform the insertion of the stimulator but have yet to schedule the actual procedure.
Thank you all for your continued love and donations.
To say my brother is loved is an understatement and we all appreciate it more than you know.
My brother Jacob encountered a hemorrhagic stroke in February of this year due to a seizure he had. In 2016, he had a grand mal seizure and found out he had tumors that had been growing in his brain since birth. He has since had two surgeries to excise them, but since then has had issues with seizures becoming more severe and more often. We were hoping to put in a type of pacemaker (nerve stimulator) this year to ease his seizures frequency, but before being able to he had a grand mal causing him to forgo a brain injury and is now healing at home. He can’t work right now and the bills are piling up. If you know him, you love him and if he gave me permission to do a GoFundMe, you also know he must really need the help because he’s also so incredibly independent and stubborn (it’s hereditary, lol).
He is a man of great talent and heart of pure friggin’ gold. I adore him and hope that you all can help him get through this financial hump in order to continue on his path of care without fear of the burden bills carry.
Thank you, for any and all donations.
