Hey guys! As most of you know, the walker family was involved in a pretty serious car accident. Ashley is dealing with a lot so I’m trying to take some stress off of her and do this for her!
From Ashley herself:
On 4/3/19, at 4:15 pm, we were on 275E heading to see family in Dayton, OH. We were completely stopped in a line of traffic waiting to merge on 75N, when we were rear ended by a Pontiac vibe(suv). She hit us so hard it caused a 4 car pile up in the middle of rush hour. She pushed the trunk into the backseat where the kids were sitting, and they had to be extracted from the car. All of the airbags deployed and the car is now totaled from the damage. All 4 of us had to be taken by ambulances to hospitals. Chris and I have severe concussions, aren’t allowed to drive, we’re are off work til next month. I have been diagnosed with ptsd and panic attacks. Kyleigh and Aidan we’re both admitted to children’s for three days. Kyleigh had a brain bleed, multiple skull and facial fractures, a severe concusion, vision issues, and was diagnosed with a traumatic brain injury. Aidan is more complex. He has multiple facial fractures including, a broken nose, a displaced cheek bone, intrasinus hemorrhaging, shattered sinus wall, chipped teeth, and several parts of his orbital bones are fractured. He also has a severe concussion and a traumatic brain injury. He will be readmitted to children’s hospital to undergo plastic surgery. They are putting 3-4 plates in to rebuild the right side of his face, as well as a piece of mesh to hold his eyeball in place because the orbital floor is so shattered. All of this happened to our family for no other reason other than someone was completely negligent and not paying attention to the road. I will never forget my children screaming while their faces and heads were bleeding, knowing I couldn’t help them or myself that day. The woman who hit us knew our kids were badly injured and didn’t even bother to see if we needed help. We now know she has liability coverage only, and she does not have enough coverage to cover all four cars involved in the accident, or the injuries involved. Any money raised/donated will go towards medical bills, counseling, and helping our family rebuild and move forward from this terrible tragedy.
