Lifelong dream: moving to the UK
Donation protected
Hello there!
My name is Angel, and I have a story to share with you.
It's a story of a dream.
Many years ago, when I was a little girl of perhaps 6 or 7, I was sitting at a Denny's restaurant with my mother eating pigs in a blanket. The sun was setting, and there were brilliant colors painted across the skies.
Blues, pinks, yellows, reds and maybe even a bit of purple. I remember thinking that it was so pretty. My mother also gazing out the window then asked me if I knew what all those pretty colors meant.
I shook my head and now was focused on her. She gave a smile, and then told me that those were unicorns running across the sky.
You see, she loved unicorns. I think honestly she loved all things mystical. But unicorns were her favorite.
That for me, was when my own love for unicorns was born.
Fast forward to many years later. I had since been given up for adoption, and lost contact with my mother and father.
Recently I have learned that they had passed away. Both at very young ages for health reasons. I am nearing the same ages as they were when they passed. This frightens me to be honest.
Now, I've had a dream for many years, and that dream is to move to Scotland. I'd like to bring my mother's ashes there, bury them under a lovely tree and hold a bit of a memorial for her.
Scotland's national animal is that of a unicorn. A part of me feels as though I'd be bringing her home, and I would finally have closure.
But, there's more to it than that. I love Scotland. I feel like I'm home when I read about it, watch videos on it, research it. It's always been my dream to settle there.
Now, my health is getting a little on the iffy side. Although I am trying my best to keep it good. But, I want to move there, live out my days there without the fear that I have here.
I want me and my love to be there happy and living freely.
We're working on saving up the money to move there.
I know how much will be needed to stay on a six month UK visitor visa.
This of course includes utilities, rent, and food. As well as the plane tickets to and from.
We're currently trying to save every bit that we have. But we really could use some help. We have a 2 year time frame in which we're hoping to be able to move over there.
I have created a budget to show what it is we'll need the money for.
6 month budget
Rent at £400. pcm £2400. per 6 months
Internet - About £35.00 per month -About £210.00 /6 months
Electric - About £60.00 per month - About £360.00 /6 months
Gas - About £60.00 per month - About £360.00 /6 months
Water - £48.00 Per month - About £288.00 /6 months
Food - About £400.00 per month. [this includes toiletries and laundry] - About £2400.00 per 6 months
The bit of extra we're able to save, will be used for my medication. [I am diabetic.]
Also factor in plane tickets for 2 people at £3000.00 round trip
Total cost to move over and to live there for
6 months for two people is £9018.00
The goal could shift depending on the exchange rate between the US dollar and the Pound Sterling.
In case we're not able to get a work visa within the six month period. This will ensure we have the money to come back to the US.
So, we are hoping that within 2 years, we can make this dream a reality. So that I may experience more than what I have. So that me and those that I love can create new memories, new adventures, new ways of looking at the world that is around us.
But, I don't just want to be asking for money, not without giving something in return.
I make jewelry, of all sorts, of different styles for many different occasions. If you donate, I'll be more than happy, as a show of my appreciation and gratitude to make you custom jewelry.
I'm considering doing a video journal of our journey over there and our experiences as we find out what it means to be home.
I would share the link of those videos with those that have donated as well.
Your help is very much appreciated. Please, help us make this dream a reality.
Thank you so much
-Angel.
