8th grade Washington DC and New York Trip

Hi, my name is Loriel Price, an 8th grader at Presidio Middle School. I love having the experience to be around and learn different cultures, running track, playing basketball with my friends and family, learning Japanese with my friends, doing gymnastic and going to different museums on my free time. I created a gofundme account to get support on a once in a lifetime opportunity to be able to spend time with 35 additional students to learn about American history. In the 6th, 7th and now 8th grade we are taught through books, videos, friends and family, but to really get to experience the history in New York and Washington DC with friends and teachers will be a memory worth keeping.

The 5,000 dollars that are being ask to help support my trip is to be used to pay for, transportation to destination, hotel accommodations, 6 days and nights , admission to all attractions, all meals , course leader, night chaperones, accident & medical Insurance and the opportunity to Earn free academic credits.

My first day on my Washington DC trip, I will visit the Pentagon Memorial where I will walk through the site that honors the victims who died during the 9/11 attack. My second day, I will be visiting Capitol Hill. I will tour the underground tunnels to see where lawmakers meet, see the miles of books at the Library of Congress and sit on the steps on the highest court in the land. On day three and four, I will be visiting the Jefferson Memorial to see the famous writings of the Declaration of Independence and discuss how the first Secretary of State impacted the way America developed as a nation. Tell me if that's not exciting! On the fifth day, I will visit the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial to see the writings that nurtured love across the nation. I will have the opportunity to recite Dr. King's famous "I have a dream" speech, and my dream is to be able to get there to just do that. From there, I will travel to New York City, to take the subway to Lower Manhattan, and take a ferry to see the Statue of Liberty. Also, I will visit the National 9/11 Memorial, where I will pay my respect to the victims lost during the 9/11 attack. I will also learn about how America has changed since then. On day six, I will tour the bright billboards in Times Square in Midtown Manhattan, the lively center of Broadway's theater district where I will have fun and enjoy a Broadway Musical called "Wicked". The last day of excitement is where I will spend time with 35 additional students learning about the historic landmark in the heart of Midtown Manhattan, Rockefeller Center, the home to Top of the Rock Observation Deck, NBC Studios, Radio City Music Hall, New York City's premier Christmas Tree and much more!

If and when I get the chance to visit the seven attractions in Washington D.C. and New York City, it will be a pleasure to come back to the Bay Area and share my knowledge and experience as an 8th grader with the students, parents, and teachers of Presidio Middle School.
