My name is Eve, I’m 25- years old, I'm a burlesque performer and I live in Amsterdam. I’m also trans.
About seven years ago, I started my social transition. Growing up, I was always taught that you should love the body that you’re in - while I do absolutely agree, it’s undoubtedly a different situation as a trans woman. Throughout these seven years, I have worked hard to accept the way I look as best I can. But even if I can work towards reaching a point of true self-acceptance, it seems like the outside world can’t. The constant questions whether I’m a man or a woman, the stares and the constant harassment have really taken a toll on me and have by now given me a general feeling of unsafety. All of these have worn me down over the years. That’s why I have decided to take the next step into my transition: my FFS (Facial Feminization Surgery)!
I have long doubted getting FFS because it is a really intense surgery. However, I’ve finally decided that it will be the right next step in my transition, to navigate life more safely and securely.
Through many years of performing, including countless fundraisers for similar surgeries, I have found myself surrounded by so many amazing queer people that I can take an example from, and that obviously includes all of my beautiful trans siblings. Seeing what this surgery has done for them has given me the courage to decide to do it as well, so I have now set a date for my own surgery, which is the 23rd of march 2026! The date is so close which makes me super excited, but also a bit nervous about being able to raise all the funds in good time.
I’ve been in constant contact with the relevant medical professionals and my insurance for months trying to get the surgery at least partially covered - sadly, that didn't work out in the end. . This means that I've now had to face the full financial reality of this journey.
Surgery & medical fees: €26,875
Required clinic stay: €1,650
Recovery & living expenses: €1,500 (In my physically demanding job, I simply cannot perform while recovering. This covers my rent and bills during the month after surgery that I cannot work).
Transfaction fees Gofundme: €1.000
I am not starting from zero, however. Through personal savings and the incredible early support of my family and loved ones, I have already raised €5,000. This leaves my current fundraising goal at €26,000, which is still a very big, very scary number.
Even the smallest of donations still helps me tremendously, so thank you from the bottom of my heart if you’re able to donate anything! If you're unable to donate at this time, sharing this fundraiser with your network is an incredibly powerful way to help, as it increases the visibility and reach of my GFM campaign and the chances of reaching my goal in time. A share on social media, in a group chat, or with a friend can make all the difference!
Thank you all so much for taking the time to read this, for donating, for sharing, I absolutely couldn’t do it without all of you <3.
