Help Me Help My Grandchildren

Donation protected
This is to try to help give my stepson and his family a break. They're struggling, just like everyone is, I know, but he's working two jobs (the second one as a pizza delivery guy at night and on weekends and I just found out he LOST that one even though he was willing to work Christmas Day AND Christmas Eve.) He and his wife (who also has a full-time job but is going to have to have surgery on her ankle for the third time the day after Christmas and be laid up for a month) have five children between them. The boys are older; one's "almost" on his own, but the younger one just entered a treatment center for ADHD AND depression. Their insurance is woefully inadequate even though both work at a major medical center. Joel is 44 and is Type 1 diabetic and has Addison's Disease; he almost died from the diabetes a few years ago even though he constantly monitors himself. They also have 3 little girls between them ages five through thirteen; they are the lights of my life. They also care for her parents and Joel helped out a lot when my husband was in his final illness. Joel and Robin had everything planned to not only have enough to have Christmas Dinner, but enough food in the house the whole week (for a change.) They were going to go shopping for actual presents for the kids this week, but now they can't They don't qualify for any benefits of any kind because they make "too much" in spite of child care expenses, food, rent, keeping two used cars running. etc. I just don't feel it's right that ANYONE who's worked so hard and are such good parents should have to struggle so much; since Joel lost his pizza delivery job and will have to take unpaid time off from his other job to care for Robin and the girls, they had to cancel all Christmas plans. He didn't ask me to do this, but if I could just help them give the kids (and them) a Christmas, even if a late one, and get just a little ahead to prepare for the next crisis, it would make me feel so good. So I'm really doing this for selfish reasons. I'd help them if I could, but I'm tapped out due to overwhelming medical expenses. If anyone would like to donate even just a little bit, or whatever you can, it would mean a lot. I know the timing is bad (mine always is) - two days before Christmas, everyone else is struggling too, the end of the year and I know how hard everyone works for what they get just in order to survive. But if I could just give them a BREATHER.....if Joel gets sick from exhaustion, I don't know what they'll do. I know this is an all too familiar situation for EVERYONE and I hate to ask, but I'm giving it a shot. If you want to and can, that would be great; if not, I totally understand.
