Many of you know this very special dog: he has often greeted you at the door of ArtInternationale In San Francisco as you came for a meeting, a social event, an exhibition, or the very first Occupy Movement meeting in S an Francisco. You may have sat listening intently to an amazing musical performance only to have him sidle up to you, gently sit and place his beautiful snow white paw gently on your foot or leg. Or you may be one of the hundreds who have stopped us as we were walking around North Beach, or sat outside Trieste Cafe, or inside Specs, City Lights, La Boheme, or strolled the streets of the Mission, stooped to kiss him, stroke his big head or tell me how " mythical" or elegant he is. Or perhaps you are one of the hundreds of poets, activists, pzinters, musicians, dancers or actors who have performed at ArtInternationale only to look down and see him on stage with you or mingling among your audience. He is memorable: an ancient breed that reminds us of our shared animal essence. Often I have been told he is the embodimment of Game of Thrones elegant wolf-dog. He is beautiful--exceptional and rare--and he has cancer.--a mass on his right haunch that three different vets, over a period of four years, have said was nothing, but a simple, common fatty mass. Now I am told it is cancer and requires mmediate surgery or he will die.
Colin O'Leary and I lost our lease to beautiful ArtInternationale, but I know many of you enriched our world by performing, rehearsing, socializing and dining/ partying with some of the best talent and committed activists in the Bay. We rarely charged anything for the use of the space because we viewed it as shared, community, creative space, a place for culture to flourish and artist/activists to mingle and empower all our diverse communities. Now we need you to help us help Zach.
I have secured an Emergency Medical Grant for his hospital, recovery and medical expenses, but it does not cover the cost of the surgeon's fee which will run from $1700 to $2000. Zach is otherwise very healthy, but if he does not get this help, he will suffer a slow and painful sure death.
I implore any and all who know this rare and magnificent animal, who have enjoyed ArtInternationale as a community art space, who simply wants to help a beautiful dog live, to please donate to Zach's surgery fund. Due to my current unemployed status, I have no other way to keep him alive and his need is urgent.
