Sean Michael O'Keefe Memorial Fund
Donation protected
It is with broken hearts that we share with you the loss of our beautiful son Sean Michael on April 8, 2019, when he lost his enduring battle of years of opioid dependency and addiction.
This fund is started by the family of Sean Michael O'Keefe on behalf of Sean's family, friends and loved ones.
Almost everyone knows of someone affected by this epidemic. We want this devastating loss of our son to possibly help save a life. There are many that do not have insurance to help cover costs of a rehabilitation program; this memorial is meant to assist those in this situation. Please help us in preventing another family from going through this tragedy, and helping us to honor Sean's memory.
He grew from a beautiful, funny, respectful child to a loving and intelligent man. He went to Christian school, Church, was baptized and became an "A"student and finished several years of college. He had a God given talent for drawing, and painting. He loved Country music, collected everything "BATMAN'' , and loved movies. He was disciplined when he did wrong, he was praised and loved by many. He was in my life daily for 32 years.
I am writing to shout to the world this is not just our nightmare, it is everywhere. Sean spent the last 16 months in our home, unable to work, having 25 surgeries, and recovering, only to have another infection, surgery or skin graft. Caring for him like he was a child again, made the last 1.5 years tough. Phil and I tried for many years to stop the cycle, but saw what so many do not want to believe. THIS IS A DISEASE , not a choice.
There are many aspects to it , depression, shame, embarrassment that doesnt allow open sympathy and guidance. There is a stigma out there with name calling and judgement by others that are lucky enough in their life not to know or love someone with this disease. I pray that in Sean's Memory you will possibly donate but at least SHARE with your friends, saying how you knew us or SEAN, and help this fund help someone else that needs assistance into a program for recovery. Thank you for those that have helped, and for those that care for Phil, Ryan and myself.
This is entirely for THOSE WHO NEED HELP AND CANNOT GET IT. This is not for myself or my family. Mainly it’s due to lack of finances and insurance that people who develop issues with addiction can’t seek help. I’m sure you know or have known a relative or friend that struggles with addiction. The scholarship we established could help that someone you know. Please, any and every donation is very meaningful and appreciated in the highest regard. I Thank you to all those who have prayed and been there for my family and myself during this difficult time. Also, Thank you in advance for your donations. Please share!
Donations will be used for Indigent Drug Rehabilitation.
