Anthony's Recovery Fund

Hi all, my name is Ramon. I am Anthony’s uncle. His mom Mitzi is my sister, and I am organizing this GoFund me on her behalf. Below is our story. We appreciate all the support! 

Anthony Ruiz is a 13 year old boy loved by his parents, Mitzi, Gilberto and little sister, 9-year-old, Nathalie. Anthony loves anime, volleyball, family and computer games. Anthony unexpectedly went into a traumatic event while at home eating dinner with his family.

On 1/11/2023, at 4:30 pm, the biggest challenge imaginable was thrown our way. What started as a normal headache, quickly turned into a life-threatening brain injury for Anthony. While at home with his parents, Anthony complained about a headache and pain in his eye. The pain evolved within minutes to the point of causing nausea and dizziness. Seconds after that, Anthony went fell unconscious, convulsing, and struggling to breathe. His parents acted quickly by calling 911 and getting paramedics on site. Not knowing what was going on in Anthony's brain, he was transported to Manteca Medical Center for emergency treatment.

Hours went by with doctors trying to do everything possible to keep Anthony alive. The decision was made to airlift him to UC Davis Medical Center for emergency surgery. Anthony was suffering from massive bleeding in the brain and needed to be treated immediately.

Once at UC Davis Medical Center, the neurosurgeons worked tirelessly to save Anthony's life. 7 hours later, Anthony showed his strength once again by coming out of surgery and hanging on to life. 2 days later, Anthony continues to be in the ICU, intubated, continuing his fight to recovery. With the support of his family, friends, and loved ones, Anthony fights hour after hour to return to his joyful life.

As Anthony continues his recovery, we are asking as family members for any support financially to allow his parents to focus solely on the health of their son and not the burden of bills, medical expenses and other needs. Thank you for all the help and support in advance. It is truly appreciated.

Anthony Ruiz es un niño de 13 años amado por sus padres, Mitzi, Gilberto y su hermana pequeña, Nathalie, de 9 años. Anthony es fan del anime, el voleibol, los juegos de computadora y pasar tiempo con la familia. Anthony inesperadamente paso por un evento traumático mientras estaba en casa cenando con su familia.

El 11/01/2023, a las 4:30 p. m., se nos presentó el mayor desafío imaginable. Lo que comenzó como un dolor de cabeza normal, rápidamente se convirtió a pasar a una lesión cerebral para Anthony. Mientras estaba en casa con sus padres, Anthony se quejó de dolor de cabeza y dolor en el ojo. El dolor evolucionó en minutos hasta el punto de causar náuseas y mareos. Segundos después de eso, Anthony cayó inconsciente, convulsionando y luchando por respirar. Sus padres actuaron rápidamente llamando al 911 para primeros auxilios. Sin saber qué estaba pasando en el cerebro de Anthony, fue transportado al Centro Médico de Manteca para recibir tratamiento de emergencia.

Pasaron las horas con los médicos tratando de hacer todo lo posible para mantener vivo a Anthony. Se tomó la decisión de trasladarlo en helicoptero al Centro Médico de UC Davis para una cirugía de emergencia. Anthony estaba sufriendo de una hemorragia masiva en el cerebro y necesitaba ser tratado de inmediato.

Una vez en el Centro Médico de UC Davis, los neurocirujanos trabajaron incansablemente para salvar la vida de Anthony. 7 horas más tarde, Anthony mostró su fuerza una vez más al salir de la cirugía y aferrarse a la vida. 2 días después, Anthony continúa en la UCI, intubado, continuando su lucha por recuperarse. Con el apoyo de su familia, amigos y seres queridos, Anthony lucha hora tras hora para volver estar conciente, y progresar a su vida feliz.

Mientras Anthony continúa con su recuperación, pedimos como miembros de la familia cualquier apoyo financiero para permitir que sus padres se concentren únicamente en la salud de su hijo y no en la carga de los gastos médicos y otras necesidades.
