Help Rachel and Her Family

About a month ago Rachel and Tim had their 4th baby. A beautiful little girl. She worked right up until she went into labor. Rachel had Hyperemesis throughout her entire pregnancy.

If you’ve forgotten, hyperemesis is the same illness that Princess Kate suffered from. The mother can’t keep any food down and many times can barely keep down and water. Rachel needed home health care to treat her severe dehydration and eating.

After two days of being in labor at home, she wasn’t progressing and the she and her midwife were worried that something was wrong with the baby and requested she go to the hospital for monitoring. When she still didn’t progress they induced her.

They started to lose the baby and the doctors took Rachel off Pitocin and put her in Trendelenburg position, then gave her an injection to temporarily stop her contractions. She was then rushed to the OR for an emergency c-section.

Rachel successfully delivered a beautiful baby girl. Rachel and baby girl were able to go home after two nights in the hospital.

Unfortunately, when Rachel got home she spiked a 105-107 fever that had her shaking uncontrollably with chills and extreme abdominal pain.

She went to the ER with the assumption she had mastitis and was immediately diagnosed with sepsis; which required a blood transfusion, IV antibiotics and an ICU stay. They also discovered a blood clot in her ovarian vein up to her IVC (this is in addition to the pulmonary embolism that was discovered when she was 6 months pregnant) and started her on blood thinners, which she continues at home.

Baby and Rachel are both home now but Rachel has a lot of medications to take post blood clot and post sepsis.

Rachel was terminated from her job this past week. This has caused a huge strain on their finances - especially since Rachel has so many medications to pay for plus a new baby.
