Save Luna! Urgent heart surgery needed

Hi all!

This is Ejoy & I wanted to start this "Help Luna" GoFundMe campaign to offer support to Jessica and Luna. Jess is truly a caring friend and hardworking person & when I heard about Luna's health challenges I thought it would be a great opportunity to spread kindness by helping Jessica give Luna the care she needs.

Every bit of help and sharing this page helps! Thank you!

From Jessica:

"Luna came into my life six months ago after a visit to The Cat Lounge in La Jolla, CA. She was the first cat that greeted me, gently rubbing against my leg with a loud meow that demanded attention. While I had no intention of walking away with a cat that day, some part of me knew that I needed to bring her home. I learned that Luna was a stray cat found on the streets of Los Angeles and brought to La Jolla for another chance. In fact, all of the cats there were rescued from euthanization and were brought to The Cat Lounge for socialization, freedom from cramped cages, and hopefully, another chance at life. I wanted to be that person who gave Luna another chance at life, so several hours later, I adopted her, beginning our journey together.

While six months may not seem like a long time, I’m thankful to have experienced that time with Luna. She has been with me through the uncertainties of living and working during a pandemic, sat through hours of car rides with me on visits to my family, and been a comforting presence through some dark moments in my life.

But during that time, I noticed something was happening to Luna. There were moments when she would suddenly crouch, cough, and choke. At first, I thought it was a simple hair ball. But after a while, it just kept happening. After a visit to the vet, I found out it was something worse. Luna was born with a Peritoneal Pericardial Diaphragmatic Hernia. That meant that most of her organs were being pushed into her chest cavity, causing her heart to enlarge and her lungs to be pushed to the side. Ultimately, it was causing her difficulties to breathe and she would be unable to run and jump around without resulting in coughing/choking.

Having this surgery would give Luna yet another chance at life. While she is stable at the moment, the vets said that if the issue isn’t fixed, it can result in bigger issues down the road that may be unable to be fixed. I hope that I am able to give Luna another chance at life, and if you are able to help, Luna and I would greatly appreciate it. <3 "
