Enni asks for help with transition surgeries

My name is Enni, my age is 37 years old, and I come from Kherson, Ukraine. I am a transgender woman and I need a whole range of surgical procedures aimed at correcting external sexual characteristics, in particular I need reconstructive surgery for facial feminization, and first of all I would like to focus on my specific an individual clinical case, which represents a pronounced hypertrophy of the bones of the facial skeleton under the influence of androgens during puberty - which consequently led to the retraction of the eyeballs into the sockets. This clinical feature refers to congenital deformities of the orbits and in medical terms is called “bilateral enophthalmos,” which can only be eliminated surgically. In simple terms, we are talking about deep-set eyes, which is usually not typical for females, and for corresponding reasons, this aesthetic feature aggravates my feeling of gender dysphoria, which complicates my socialization in society. However, at the moment there are a number of difficulties and limitations due to which it is practically impossible for me to receive the necessary treatment, which will be discussed.

I currently live in Germany, in the city of Berlin, and am an asylum seeker. More than 6 years ago, I filed an appeal to the administrative court of Berlin to appeal a negative decision from the migration department (BAMF), to which I applied for refugee status earlier (back in the summer of 2017).

However, my case is still pending in court, as a result of which I do not have the legal ability to leave the territory of Germany, which in my case is the most serious obstacle to achieving my goal.

The thing is that I already have a doctor who is a virtuoso specialist in the field of reconstructive craniofacial surgery and has a Doctor of Medical Sciences degree, he sufficiently studied my clinical case and developed for me an individual design solution for performing a surgical operation to eliminate my aesthetic defect , however, the clinic in which he performs operations is located in Kazakhstan, in the city of Almaty, where for the above reasons I cannot go.

In Germany, they cannot provide me with this medical care, due to the fact that medical insurance does not cover the costs of facial feminization operations for transgender people, unfortunately, and if you do the operation at your own expense, then this is even more not possible due to the fact that , that such an operation would cost a colossal amount of money, which in my social situation would be impossible to find in principle.

Further, there is one more catch, which plays an important role in solving the problem. As I already said, my clinical case is very unusual and complex, so this problem is that it cannot be eliminated by the traditional approach to facial feminization surgery for transgender women. For the most part, clinics specializing in transgender medicine in Europe, including Germany, are not ready to take on my case, since they usually do not have sufficient experience and skills in performing such operations - which require specific knowledge in orbital reconstructive surgery. However, I still managed to find an experienced specialist in the city of Almaty who can provide me with medical assistance for a reasonable amount and now the next important step for me is a trip to Kazakhstan!
