Hi I am Geralyn the aunt of Mariana, In August Mariana started to experience some extreme upper back pain. At first she didn’t think much of it because she works and lifts things so she thought it was from that. Towards the end of August she noticed a huge lump on her right shoulder near her spine. Then on August 26th 2023, she went to the ER due to the pain. That’s when our lives changed forever. The ER doctors ran some scans and told her and her boyfriend that she needs to see a specialist as soon as possible because it could be cancer.
We finally got her in to the a specialist at KU cancer specialist. On Sept 19th they did her first biopsy. After that biopsy they still didn’t have answer so Mariana had to undergo a 2nd Biopsy on October 12th.
On October 20th we got the results showing it is a very rare cancer BCOR-CCNB3-Fusion round cell sarcoma very aggressive cancer which tends to spread rather quickly
She is only 18 and this has been the hardest thing for our family with her being so young no one deserves this she soon will be going through an intense round of chemo treatment that will prevent her from working this kid has had her struggles with other issues in the past and overcome so much this is so hard and just taking it one day at a time really.
We appreciate all the prayers and support. she has a wonderful boyfriend and family that is very supportive and this is going to be a very rough time for all of us and especially her just would like to ask for little help with things for her. Anything would help and be greatly appreciated for her at this time.
Please continue to pray for Her and our family to get through this. This kid is the best thing that came into my life and we are really struggling with this news her mother is right by her side every step of this that’s happening. Thx
